物凄くカッコEです、聴いた瞬間、ジャミロクワイがショボく感じてしまいました。
このアルバムを初めて聴いた当時、
ジャミのネタっていうかアイディアとかってコレだったのか〜

片方の雄「WINTER IN AMERICA」が「陰」とすれば、こちらは絶対的「陽」な内容。
1曲目の表題曲からテナーサックスが吹き荒れ、GIL自身ものりに乗っている。

1・2と「陽」的な曲が続いた後の3曲目、BALLADE調の名曲「NEW YORK CITY」、
これまた絶品！ この手の曲を歌い上げ、ビシッと決めてくれる所にGILの技量を
垣間見る。政治的意見を述べた「BICENTENNIAL BLUES」（歴代の米大統領の
皮肉を聴いて取れる）では十八番のPOETRY READINGを聴かせてくれ、お次の
名曲「BOTTLE」では「WINTER～」版とはまた違ったご機嫌LIVEバージョンを披露！
が、何といっても一番の聴き所は「HOME IS WHERE THE HATRED IS」に
他ならない。GILとBRIANのコラボレーションの集大成とも言える絶品曲である！
12:07という結構長尺の曲ではあるが、後半の盛り上がり方はホント半端ではない！
こんな曲を黙って聴いていられるか！ 皆、目一杯GROOVEしよう！
いや～～これはいいでげすな。オリジナルラブにだいぶ歌い方に関して影響を与えているな。サウンドや姿勢も影響を与えているのかは研究してないのでわからんさ。かなり政治的なリリックを歌ってた人。エレピもうまい。これはライブ中心のアルバム。わくわくする躍動感がいい。
後のラッパーたちにかなり影響を与えているはず。これは７６年のアルバム。社会問題にコミットする黒人はやはりいさぎよい。サウンド＋コミットの震度が高いアルバム。オリジナルラブ研究者は聴くべし。
詩を通してメッセージを熱く伝えていたらしく、やっぱ『戦闘性』がないとだめすね。 １０点中９点
